Bottled Water Company Seeking Loan in Kolkata, India

- The business started operations in 2019 and was engaged in the production and sale of packaged drinking water.

- Stopped operations in early 2020 due to the lack of working capital.

- While operational, the business used to bottle 32,000 liters of water in a single 8 hour shift.

- The bottled water was sold under our own brand in 500 ML, 1L, 2L, 5L, and 20L SKUs.

- The factory is BSI and FSSAI compliant.

- Our water was distributed in Kolkata and its surrounding areas with the help of 80 distributors.

- In the past, the business raised INR 70 lakh of debt from a bank to acquire a 8 kattha (5,760 sq. ft. ) plot adjoining its current factory and to meet its working capital requirements.

- However, due to business conditions, the plot could not be acquired during the time and the company was unable to make timely repayments.

- At present INR 40 lakh of the loan is outstanding and is classified as an NPA.

- Despite proving creditworthiness, having excess tangible real assets, and business disruption due to the pandemic, the bank refused to restructure the loan or offer an extension to repay the loan.

- The business is seeking capital to restart operations, retire the outstanding debt, expand the factory and expand the product portfolio to include juices, soda, and bakery products.

- While operational, the business was profitable with an operating profit margin of 20% but had poor working capital management practices.

- We intend to restart operations with new capital management practices in order to ensure financial health.
