- Incorporated as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931, the company was set up initially as a small operation in Konnagar (near Calcutta) in 1932. 1) Initial discussion & proposal review:

What are some of the things we look for in a Franchisee?
1) Capital investment:
A total investment of INR 45–50 lakh (inclusive of store setup, stocks, branding, and initial operational expenses).
2) Owner involvement:
While day-to-day operations will be handled by trained store staff, we expect the investor to visit the store occasionally when possible, especially during key operational milestones or initial setup.
3) Timely payments:
Prompt settlement of invoices raised for goods and other operational elements, as per agreed credit terms.
4) Local marketing support:
