Recurring revenue is crucial because it makes business performance more predictable and reduces uncertainty. I also evaluate the business model and industry position. Companies should operate in sectors with long-term growth potential, such as healthcare or technology, and not rely on a single customer, supplier, or personal involvement from the owner. A scalable business model, a competitive advantage, and a high customer retention rate are strong indicators of sustainability. Finally, valuation and risk management are crucial. A good business remains unattractive if it is overpriced. I assess whether the asking price is reasonable compared to its EBITDA and growth rate. I also consider operational risks, the level of market competition, and how easily management can be replaced if necessary. Overall, I prioritize stability, growth potential, and a fair valuation before making an investment decision.
