Coal Linkage by road - 2300 MT per month linkage of coal from C.C.L. by road (CHURI & N. URIMARI). The company has applied to the Coal Ministry (India) to get the road linkage quantity converted into rake allotments of C, D & E grades which will make the costs more economical. The quantity is also likely to thus increase proportionately to 3000 MT p.m. through rake allotments.
Coal linkage by rake - 1800 MT per month linkage of coal by rake (RCM OR KDH) from C.C.L.
Pollution consent to operate from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) for all the units. The pollution consent to operate for a new Greenfield operation is difficult to get. The new rules mandate the pollution & environment consent to be cleared & established from the headquarters of Pollution Control Board & the Environment Ministry, New Delhi.
6 MVA sanctioned electric load from D.V.C (DAMODAR VALLEY CORPORATION) in the Sponge & Ferro alloys unit.
Nominal rate of electricity charged by D.V.C (Rs. 3.95/- per unit) compared to “Other” State Electricity Boards.
11000 KVA line in the pig iron unit from Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB). Has already got approval for supply of 0.5 MVA line by D.V.C (PROCESS IS FAST TRACKED) leading to savings in energy costs & uniformity in electric supply thereby reducing significantly the wear & tear of machinery.
Civil foundation for the 2nd unit of pig iron unit completed. Other infrastructure of the blast furnace being the same.
Expansion scope - The 26 acre campus for the blast furnace with sinter (occupying only 3-4 acres) is available for expansion & further integration of operation purposes (like Induction & rolling mill). There is scope for further land that can be acquired separately.
Can substitute costly Iron-ore up to 75% with sinter in the blast furnace via the newly commissioned sintering unit (owing to lesser cost of manufacturing Iron sinter).
Proximity to abundant sources of raw materials (IRON ORE, COAL, MANGANESE ORE ETC.)
BACKWARD INTEGRATION OF THE BLAST FURNACE – there’s scope for manufacturing & substituting the raw materials required for the pig iron unit viz., hard coke & sinter. Need for external sources of raw material supply for the blast furnace is minimized.
This point stands VALID only when there’s Expansion & Forward Integration of operations (like Rolling Mill & Induction furnace). The waste gas from the Blast furnace can be substituted with diesel in the Rolling Mill for firing purposes leading to substantial savings of about 1 Lac per day. The hot metal from the blast furnace can be directly charged to the Induction furnace which would result in energy savings of almost Rs. 200/- per MT to make Ingots & lesser scrap generation in the blast furnace.
